MICHAEL CHAPMAN

The Twisted Road

It's a good thirty years since DJ John Peel told the world that "Fully Qualified Survivor" was his favourite album of 1970. It's difficult to find a better tribute than a recommendation for John Peel.  It's also a high standard to maintain and with the release of Twisted Road, it's clear that Michael Chapman has remained at the top. This album really does confirm Michael as one of Europe's leading singer, songwriters. That distinctive gravel voice is more than supported by Michael's incredible guitar work that sets him out as one of the best around (truly world class!).  This excellent new album is a superb blend of mostly new songs with the occasional re-working of an old favourite, all characteristically caustic and tender songs of nostalgia and regret. As MOJO Magazine observed "Twenty one albums and he is still amazing". With his uniquely English melancholic perspective and emotive guitar style, this self styled blues guy from the North of England is one of the most under rated heroes of our time.
